I’m Craig. I love photography, and I love music. The Snapclap was born out of these two loves. I share photos and photographic techniques, discuss and share music and sometimes (on a rare occasion) I bring it all together by taking pictures of people making music.

About Photography

I’ve been shooting for a few years now.  I’ve ben shooting for a while actually but it was like Christmas 2001 when my soon to be wife got me a Canon Rebel Ti.  I loved that camera!  I shot slide film, ilford, velvia, whatever!  Then I started to cross process and mess with Holga’s and stuff.  I did alot of long exposures and just a blast.  Little did I know that canon was quietly bringing the digital revloution to Nikon’s chest.  When the Digital Rebel was released, I poured my tax refund into a kit and never looked back.  Right now, I have a modest set-up right now, nothing crazy.  I focus on getting the best from what I got, no matter what.

About Music

I love alot of different types of music but for me it all started as a kid listening to hip hop.  Hip Hop was all around me growing up in new York, I really couldn’t escape it.  It was only later that I discoved how much of phenomenon it is.  Although Hip hop was my first love I always had an ear for almost everything.  Guns and Roses to Simon and Garfunkel.  My pops used to pump Neil Diamond and Dave Brubeck and Al Jarreau in the car and while at home on the ill “house speakers” that he my uncle built.  My brother and sister also contributed to my musical tastes, since they were older they would know all the hot new songs and the corresponding dances that went with them.  I still remeber when my brother bought UTFO’s ‘Roxanne, Roxanne’ and my sister copped Dana Dane’s 12 inch “Nightmares”.  My moms influenced me musically as i got older, she put me on to alot of ’soft rock’ Hall and Oates, the Police, stuff like that.  She also got me into Sade as well.  Thanks mom!  Lately I’ve been checking for all types of electronica; deep house, house, broken beat, etc.  Check out my man Macedonia’s podcast Both Sides of the Surface.  He might not know it, but this cat JRS has influenced my musical selections for a while.  Hopefully with the Snapclap I’ll be able to discover new artists and new music and bring balence to the force, ’cause on the real what the hell are they playing on the radio these days?
