blogging + capitalism = blogcurry

Posted by cb On August - 10 - 2007

I’ve been blogging for like maybe a year now.  Part of the time I was blogging over at www.mediumlounge.com.  I bought the domains for Mediumlounge and www.thesnapclap.com at the same time, but I sat on snapclap.  My hosting company 1&1 has a cool built in wordpress blogging tool, so I didn’t have to install wordpress and do all the messy work.  But after desiring more control over my blog, I researched wordpress and how to install it and realized it wasn’t that hard after all.  Thusly snapclap was launched and I began my quest for global blogging hegemony!

But alas, I didn’t do it by myself.  First of all I wanna give a big phat shoutout to my homie Briana.  This girl is a blogging machine!  I’m trying to get her to get a domain and host her own blog, ‘casue I think she would really, really be surprised at the amount of people that would read her stuff.  So, part of the reason why I got inspired was Briana, so big ups to you!

Secondly, I came across several cool, informative websites that eased me into wordpress installation and blog optimization.  One of the tools that I just came across was www.mybloglog.com. This site serves as like a myspace for bloggers interested in meeting other bloggers and linking them together in communities.  If you’re new to blogging and you got questions, please check out mybloglog.

Another site that’s really useful is www.blogcurry.com. I kinda stumbled onto blogcurry while surfing my way around mybloglog.  Blogcurry is a treasure trove of helpful tips in blogging, using wordpress and monetizing your blog (the owner James Allen IS a capitalist after all.)  According to website:

“Blog Curry is my personal spot in the blogosphere to keep track of all the other blogs that discuss, well, blogging.”

And discuss blogging he does.  From the history of blogging, to mobile blogging to video and photo blogging, Allen pretty much explains it all, and provides useful links to resources. For example, he talks about the $2 link building method, discussed by Teli Adlam over at www.optiniche.com.  Blogcurry has a pretty cool three column layout, with links to previous posts, blogroll and featured articles and recent comments.  I really like the fact that the right column has links to featured articles.  First of all, this area in the layout is prime real estate, your eyes easily flow there and its easy to get a mouse to, you dont have to scroll down or anything.  Effectively, this part of the site serves as a quicklink to articles that cover popular topics and allow newbies faster access to the meat and potatos of blogcurry.  All in all, I must say, great job Mr. Allen; blogcurry is informative, easy to read and well put together; and on top of that it’s a great resource.

So, check out blogcurry.com, join their community over at mybloglog and don’t forget to subscribe, so you don’t miss any tasty (read: spicy) tips.

PEACE! (and happy blogging)

oh and by the way, . . Mr. Allen is offering FREE blog reviews, YES FREE BLOG REVIEWS!!!! F R E E ! !.   SO, . . once you’re all set up with your blog, head over to www.blogcurry.com and review the site, Mr. Allen with then return the favor and review your site, offering much needed advice for newbies like myself.
